As last Sundays inclement weather put paid to our original plans of valeting our cars, we decided to take a trip out to Hoghton Tower in Preston, Lancashire instead. They were holding a farmer's market there, so we took the opportunity to stock up on some fresh fruit and veggies. What a stunning venue!

The grounds and house itself are really well kept, and restoration work is under way where possible around the estate. The admission price of £8.00 and £2.20 for the grounds only seems well worth it if it helps to keep this wonderous example of England's Heritage at it's finest standing for many more years to come! Hats off to the organisations and people working for them who's tireless dedication to keeping history alive makes this possible!

We didn't get to see inside the house on this occasion as we already had plans to go somewhere else after the market, but we will certainly be back at some point to take a tour! Read more about Hoghton Tower here.

Our last port of call for the day was Leyland Transport Museum. Yet another fantastic establishment! The work that has been carried out so far towards the preservation of historical vehicles is outstanding, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a lovely little cafe inside, should you fancy and break from your trip down memory lane! Here's a sneak peak:-

Even if you are not that much into old vehicles, you simply cannot help but be in awe of what has been achieved here! If you do decide to take a trip to any of these places, please stop by and let me know what you think! Can you recommend anywhere you have visited and loved?
